-Letter from the President
July 30, 2017
Dear BEAST Athletic Booster Members,
I hope this finds you all having a great summer. This note is to reach out to you in order to provide you some information about where we have been and where we are aiming to go next year for the Bellevue East Athletic Booster club.
My name is Kyle Armstrong and I am now the president of the Booster club. Our former president of the last couple years has stepped down and we now have an updated board for the upcoming year. Our new Co-Vice Presidents are Teri and Steve Pelzer, our Co-Treasurers are still Julie Collins and Arlen Quinn and our Secretary is Michele Madison.
I would like to offer a quick summation of last year and if anyone has any questions or concerns please reach out to me and I will address as best as I can. The activity of the club did wane at the end of last school year and we are working hard this summer to get back in full force to start 2017-2018 on a great footing. Last year the booster club funds were used in the following areas in support of our athletes;
- $6500 – in order to provide meals to athletes that traveled outside of the Metro
- $1500 – Fall sports banquet
- $3000 – toward the Batter’s Eye that was purchased for the baseball stadium
- $650 – to purchase new pole vault poles
As you can see from above providing meals to athletes when they travel is our biggest annual expense. In discussion between the board members and Mr. Holtz the booster club will continue to provide these funds as we feel it is important to the athletes health and will boost their performance to ensure they have a proper meal when traveling outside the Metro area. In addition there was only one sports banquet last year funded by the Booster club and this was based on a decision by the school’s athletic department and going forward each sport’s coach will handle their own end of the season gathering.
Going forward we are discussing different ways to fundraise that keeps the Booster club active and able to support the athletes. One of the first ways we will raise funds is working concession stands at the football games. We have been given 4 of 5 of the home games to work and we can make some good money in manning these stands. We will need probably 6-8 volunteers from 5:30 to end of the games. The games we will be working are 8/25, 9/22 (Homecoming), 10/6 and 10/19 and more information will be forthcoming. Other items we are looking at are more levels of memberships, craft fair, reserved seats for football games and several other mechanisms of raising money.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions or concerns. You can reach me at [email protected] or [email protected].
Sincerely
Kyle Armstrong
